Normally, a ‘spot optic’ is installed in all lamps, which has a half-angle of 6.5°. An extremely small LED is installed in the 700 and 900 models. The stronger LED in the 1500 models is slightly larger. That is why the spot is also slightly wider on the 1500 models than on the other models.
To achieve an even narrower spot, we have made the housing of the ‘tecdive’ models slightly deeper, which allows for a larger optic. This is roughly where we get the desired 10° lightsaber spot. But that is a special case.
Common to all Scurion® lamps is the nice, even ambient light from one LED directly behind the lamp glass. This emits light at an angle of about 160°.
Optionally (except for the ‘tecdive’), the ‘photo optics’ can be used instead of the normal ‘spot optics’, which has about twice the half-angle, i.e. 13°. This then provides a nice video or photo light, where the entire light output can be used for homogeneous illumination of a scene.
A picture is worth a thousand words:
…and the effects can be seen nicely in the water: here a ‘normal‘ spot of a 1500er...
