First of all, our lamps are designed to remain in use for as long as possible. Thanks to our experience since 2007, we know today (2023) that the lamps will easily serve for 15 years!
Everything about our products can be repaired by us, with the exception of course of the electronics, which are so miniaturized that humans can no longer change much about them. However, the resulting amount of electronic waste is certainly limited to considerably less than ½ kg/year.
The most delicate part of the system is the Li-ion batteries. Many and also problematic resources are used there. For this reason, our valued customers will find the necessary instructions for the use and care of these batteries in the manual. Following the instructions is simple. The weakest element here is and remains the human being. The worst enemy of even well-designed technology is carelessness - this is shown by the evaluation of 100% of our repair and service cases over many years.
Our batteries can be repaired in the simplest way. The big problem is that as "dangerous goods" they usually cannot be legally sent by post. Unfortunately, this is also exploited by free riders who copy our products and thus endanger our business model in the medium term. This is where the responsibility of our customers begins.
For small companies like us, it is very time-consuming and sometimes impossible to be completely in line with the current legislation (WEEE, Batteries Ordinance). There is usually no 'de minimis' regulation and the laws are often only designed for large companies. Therefore, there may be restrictions in availability in certain countries.
All packaging material for shipping (outer packaging and cushioning material) of our products has been used before and is often used several times. The pure product packaging is made of recyclable, printed cardboard and manufactured in Switzerland.
